A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
I live near Tunbridge Wells with my husband, two sons and two Labradors. I was awarded my professional qualifications in equine dentistry in 2006 by the British Veterinary Dental Association (the BVDA) and British Equine Veterinary Association (the BEVA) following a three-year professional apprenticeship. I hold a Bachelor of Science (BSc hons) in Equine Science from Imperial College, London (Wye College) and am registered with the British Association of Equine Dental Technicians (the BAEDT). It sounds like a bit of a mouthful but to be short, horse teeth are my thing.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MY APPROACH
My absolute priority is ensuring the health, comfort and all-round well-being of each horse that I treat. My aim is to improve the oral health and in doing so, the general health of each horse under my care. I understand that even routine dental treatment can cause anxiety to a horse and potentially, its owner. I minimise this by adopting a compassionate approach to my work, using techniques and equipment that cause minimal pain and discomfort to the horse, and by providing a clear explanation to the owner of the procedures and treatments to be employed.
I complete continuous professional development each year in accordance with the objectives and performance guidelines of the British Association of Equine Dental Technicians to ensure that I keep myself abreast of the latest developments in equine dentistry - and am able to provide professional best practice in all aspects of my work.

A FEW WORDS ON SELECTING AN EQUINE DENTAL TECHNICIAN
It is important to check that any equine dental technician has the appropriate experience and training to conduct any relevant procedure before they start work. A wrongly executed dental procedure can result in serious, or even life-threatening injuries to a horse’s jaw, mouth or throat.
There are three categories of equine dental procedures. Category one procedures may be undertaken by anyone presenting themselves as an equine dental technician. Only registered veterinary surgeons and equine dental technicians who have passed an examination approved by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) should carry out category two procedures. All other procedures are by default classified as category 3, which are those procedures restricted to registered veterinary surgeons only.
All fully qualified equine dental technicians are listed under the “Members” section on the website of the British Association of Equine Dental Technicians and/or listed in the "Category 2 List" contained on the website of The Worldwide Association of Equine Dentistry. You will find my name (Rebecca Saville) listed under the “Members” section for “London & The South East”.
SOME HAPPY CLIENTS
“Rebecca has looked after my boys’ teeth since they arrived 13 years ago. She has a very gentle, calm and confident manner in handling them and is very patient in gaining their trust. I have no worries in leaving her to get on with any work they need as I know they are in safe hands.
Thanks to Rebecca finding sarcoids in Joey’s mouth, I was able to solve his naughty behaviour whist riding and avoid him any more pain for which I am extremely grateful. With my 30 year old Shetland that is going blind and is very jumpy, she works very slowly. Ted who has serious eye problems was stroppy to begin with but now is happy for Rebecca to do anything in his mouth.
Rebecca always turns up on time, talks you through what she is doing and provides reports on each horse. I highly recommend RLH Equine Dental Services if you want the best care for your horse from a really nice person.
Thank you for everything!”

“As a riding school, it is really important that our horses are healthy and receive the best possible care. Our horses range from 9hh to 17.3hh, are aged between 3 and 25 years of age and have annual or six-monthly dental checks from Rebecca. Rebecca is very reliable and booking is easy, which is important as we are very busy! One thing I insist upon from any equine dentist is that they are calm and kind to our horses and do not rush. Rebecca always does a great job and treats our horses with respect and kindness. We receive treatment sheets for every horse for our records after each treatment.”
